All scholarships, grants, stipends and other forms of aid must be reported to the CSU Scholarship Coordinator.


Academic Scholarship Application

Are you looking for additional assistance in paying for your college education? Apply here for CSU scholarships. Scholarships do not have to be repaid and are awarded based on a variety of factors including academic achievement and need.

Chicago Star Scholar Application - Transfer students from City Colleges of Chicago who were recipients of the Chicago Star Scholar award are eligible for a scholarship of $1,000 per year for two years.

Housing Scholarship Application -  Students who will reside in the Residence Hall for the 2021-22 academic year may apply to have the cost of their room covered. This scholarship funded by the Chicago State Foundation does not include the meal plan. The application period is currently closed for the 2021-22 award year.

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

Chicago State University (CSU) is proud to offer our first-time transfer Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society members a $3,500 scholarship. This scholarship is considered time sensitive and competitive. Therefore, not all eligible PTK students will receive an award.

PTK members who submit an application for admissions during our preferred filing period will be invited to apply for this award.   

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be an admitted first-time transfer student
  • Student must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours at Chicago State University.
  • Must complete a FAFSA for the appropriate award year to determine financial aid eligibility (2021-22 FAFSA for the Fall 2021 semester)
  • Must have a cumulative transfer grade point average of 3.35 or higher.

How to apply:

  • Apply  to Chicago State University
  • Meet all eligibility criteria
  • Submit your Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society membership certificate to*Please include full name and date of birth in the body of the email (or your CSU student ID number) to identify yourself.
  • The deadline to complete your application and turn in all documents in official capacity is June 15, 2021. You must accept your award by July 1, 2021.

How the scholarship works:

  • 10 first–time transfer Phi Theta Kappa members will be selected to receive the scholarship
  • This is first-come, first-serve basis. The earlier you apply, the more likely you are to receive an award.
  • The scholarship is not renewable
  • The scholarship will apply for the 2021-2022 academic year
  • The scholarship is awarded upon meeting of eligibility requirements and at the time of acceptance of the award

The Community Services Book Grant Scholarship (CSBG) helps low-income Chicagoans finance higher education. Students enrolled in an Illinois college, university or vocational training program may qualify for a CSBG Scholarship. Funds can be applied toward tuition, uniforms, study-related fees and books. Individual scholarships range from $1,000 to $5,000.

Scholarship applications are available during the spring months of each year and awarded for the following fall semester.


  • Have completed a minimum of 36 semester hours at an Illinois community college
  • Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA from all institutions attended
  • Be an applicant to an IACAC member four-year institution for fall 2021 first-time enrollment
  • Submit the IACAC Transfer Scholarship Application

Application Requirements

  • Complete the IACAC Transfer Scholarship Application, including essay and resume
  • Submit unofficial transcripts from all institutions attended
  • Recipient will be required to submit official transcripts
  • Recipient must enroll at an IACAC member postsecondary institution as a new student for fall 2021

Application Deadline

  • Application and transcripts must be submitted by Friday, March 19, 2021.

2021 ELC Scholarship Application - The Executive Leadership Council (ELC) is the pre-eminent membership organization committed to increasing the number of global Black executives in C-Suites, on corporate boards and in global enterprises. The mission of The ELC’s Scholarship Program is to build a pipeline of Black corporate talent by supporting the academic achievement and development of Black undergraduate students. Scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership skills, and a commitment to community service. Applicants must complete and submit all application requirements by March 31, 2021 at 11:59pm EST.

Flywire is thrilled to announce that our 2021 scholarship applications are now open! This year’s themes - Social Justice, Global Health, and Global Citizenship - will be awarded to students with academic pursuits in related disciplines.

A total of seven scholarships of $5,000 USD each will be awarded across the following themes.

Social Justice

As social justice issues such as policing, anti-LGBTQ+ legislation, religious persecution, sexism, racism and sexual violence, have continued to dominate the world news this year, the need for significant social justice reform has only increased. These scholarships aim to support tomorrow’s leaders who will work towards eradicating racism, violence, systemic biases and other acts of intolerance.

Global Health

The COVID-19 pandemic has uncovered just how important all aspects of our global healthcare system is, from frontline workers and community health providers, to researchers, administrators and policy makers. It has also highlighted the urgent need to accelerate the world’s focus on improving public health care and policy for future generations. These scholarships aim to help train future healthcare stakeholders taking on these complex challenges.

Global Citizenship

COVID-19 has created a shared global experience that has united the world in an unprecedented way, yet this time period has also brought global challenges that have underscored the need for increased dialogue, education and the fostering of knowledge around diverse cultures, languages, backgrounds and political systems.  These scholarships aim to support students who are pursuing a career or passion in areas that will have a positive global impact and will promote the values of global citizenship.


  • The scholarships are open to Undergraduate & Graduate students worldwide
  • Matriculating and currently enrolled students are welcome to apply
  • Open to all majors
  • Each student can only apply to one of the three scholarships.


  • Applications MUST be submitted by Monday, June 21st, 2021 at 11:59 PM EST / Tuesday, June 22nd 3:59 PM GMT. Please note that any applications submitted after this point will not be accepted or reviewed.
  • Winners will be notified via the email provided by Tuesday, July 27th.
  • Scholarship funds will be distributed directly to your institution shortly thereafter.

How to Apply: 

All eligible applicants must complete the application form below, indicating which scholarship they are applying for. Submission of an essay or video responding to the below prompt is required within the application form.

  • Videos should be mp4 or mov format and should be between 1-3 minutes in length.
  • Essays should be one-page typed (12-point standard style font, 1-inch margins) in PDF format. All applications must be submitted in English.

Essay/Video Prompt:

In your one comprehensive essay or video, please provide clear answers to the following questions: 

  1. Tell us about yourself: what are you studying and at what university?
  2. What hurdles have you had to overcome to pursue your studies?
  3. What do you hope to achieve with your education and how does it relate to the theme of the scholarship you have selected?

Selection Criteria:

A select committee of Flywire Charitable Foundation members and diverse global Flywire employees will review each application individually. The criteria used in the selection process are:

  • Adherence to Prompt: The applicant meets all requirements, clearly addresses the questions posed by Flywire, and demonstrates how their studies relate to the scholarship they have selected.
  • Persistence: The applicant provides a clear overview of their personality, interests and values and shows evidence of determination and resilience when faced with obstacles.
  • Leadership: The applicant describes their personal, academic and/or career goals and indicates how their educational pursuits are helping them achieve stated goals.

Chicagoland Regional College Program (CRCP) - A unique partnership between Chicago State University and UPS (United Parcel Service)

CSU Tuition and Fee Waivers - A limited number of waivers, which pay for tuition and some fees, are available to eligible students through the Tuition and Fee Waiver Program. These awards are for students in degree programs and also are a part of the university employee benefits package. The number of awards and dollar amount varies each year based upon the release of appropriated funds by the State of Illinois, budgetary limits approved by the Board of Trustees, and program need.
